"Jesuit Priests, Mughal Emperors, and Rembrandt: Global Exchanges and Local Innovations"
1450 El Prado, San Diego, 92101
Cost: Free - $12
Docent Hilda Yoder explores "unique period in art history when Jesuit priests brought religious prints to Mughal emperors in hope of converting them. Mughal artists used these prints, instead, to develop a radically new kind of 'Mughal' painting. Rembrandt, in turn, collected Mughal paintings as inspiration for his own experimentations and innovations." 619-232-7931.
