"For immediate Release"
Exhibition of new paintings and drawinsg by Morgan Manduley titled "For Immediate Release," on view at the gallery from July 14- August 5. An opening reception with the artist will be held on Saturday, July 14 from 6-10 pm during the South Park Walkabout.
"For Immediate Release" showcases Manduley's use of disjointed narratives to imbue new meaning upon historical and popular imagery related to westward expansion and masculinity. The imagery alludes to freedom, risk, and the isolation of adventures dreamt. Manduley's paintings collage Ansel Adam's style landscapes, Western movie stars, house plants, hot rods and rock collections into garbled visions of boyhood fantasies. The images created from these combinations fall on the line between the desire for adventure and the desire to escape; the euphoric and the soporific.
