Giant Puppet Parade
Monroe Clark Middle School’s 400 6th graders will set out on a joyful march to their feeder elementary, Rosa Parks, in the 7th annual “Welcome to Middle School” parade. Students will carry the masks, giant puppets and banners that they and preceding classes have created, inspired by their studies of world cultures. As the middle schoolers approach the elementary playground, they will be joined by Rosa Parks 5th graders, also in masks inspired by their multicultural studies. After parading before the entire school population, the procession of both 5th and 6th graders will march together back to Monroe Clark, marking, in a larger than life celebration, the elementary schoolers’ passage into middle school.
Early morning July 13th, everyone is invited to come and cheer. The parade route will start at the Monroe Clark Middle School field, go east on Myrtle and north on 45th to Rosa Parks, circle the elementary playground and then return to the middle school.
