Botany Festival
Anza-Borrego Desert State Park Botany Society's festival takes place at park’s visitor center. Learn about native desert plants, their characteristics and uses. November 27 promises plant sale and traditional hand-made crafts from Baja (9am-4pm); lecture on "Native People, Native Plants" by indigenous plant specialists of Baja (9:30am); "Survival Strategies for Desert Plants" garden walk led by Mike Bigelow (10:30am). Mitch Beauchamp presents "Pretend There Is No Border — A Look at Plant Distributions in the Park and to the South" (noon). Beauchamp leads botany hike at 2pm in Borrego Palm Canyon ($20 general, reservations required).
Sale of handmade crafts from Baja continues on November 28 (9am-noon). Hank Barber leads "Desert Mart" garden walk (10am). Free except where noted. 760-767-4063.
