"Spring into Spring"
“Spring into Spring,” which will feature MiraCosta’s Windjammers Community Concert Band performing toe-tapping numbers guaranteed to get you out of the winter blahs. The concert will be held Saturday, May 9, at 2 p.m., in MiraCosta’s Studio A, Bldg. 2200, located at 1 Barnard Dr., Oceanside. General admission is $10; students/seniors, $8. The Windjammers Community Concert Band is directed by Jonathan Ingber.
The second show is an extravaganza presented in honor of MiraCosta’s 75th anniversary and is titled “The Songs of Tin Pan Alley.” MiraCosta musical ensembles will present this special tribute celebrating the music of the 1930s. “Tin Pan Alley” was the name given to the collection of New York City composers who wrote the bulk of important popular songs of the day. MiraCosta’s Chamber Chorale, Masterworks Chorale, Frequency Vocal Jazz Ensemble, and the MiraCosta Jazz Ensemble combine forces on selections from famous Tin Pan Alley composers, including George Gershwin, Cole Porter, Irving Berlin, and Jerome Kern. The concert will be held Friday, May 8, and Saturday, May 9, 7:30 p.m., at MiraCosta’s Theatre, Oceanside. General admission is $15; student/seniors, $10.
