Zion Dyson was twelve years old when she got her first taste of the music biz in 2014. "Gilbert Castellanos, Lorraine Castellanos, some other local jazz musicians, and I were hired to perform 'God Bless the Child' in a movie," she says. "I had never sang jazz before, but I began to take lessons with Lorraine and found I really enjoyed it."
In addition to attending the Bishop's School, Dyson also took part in a five-week summer program at Berklee College of Music and attended UCSD Jazz Camp in 2016.
In early 2017, she attended the Monterey Next Generation Jazz Festival with the International Academy of Jazz, as well as performing at the San Diego Music Awards.
