Z Matrix features Anthony Roberts and Kevin Monroe, originally alongside drummer Bryan Clements. According to the band, Clements came up through the professional baseball ranks, Roberts lead the choir at a Florida children's day camp, and Monroe was fourth runner-up in a featherweight arm wrestling world championship.
As of 2022, the band included Roberts and Monroe, with new drummer Frank Rivera. Their single “Blood, Bright Red” was released that summer.
