Female-fronted, the Western Collective was founded by Justin Werner, Trent Hancock and Fast Heart Mart, backing each others' guitar songs on bass, cajon, banjo, harmonica, and vocals.
Chad Farran (Superunloader, Pruitt Iago) joined the band primarily as a songwriter and rummer/percussionist, but plays many other instruments as well. Jamie Shadowlight joined on violin and fiddle.
"[The band] consists of five members from several bands that I have played with over the years," says Farran. "Each member is an amazing musician, songwriter, and storyteller in their own right."
They released their debut album Hearts and Dreams in 2014.
