The UltraViolet Tigers - most commonly called simply UV Tigers - was founded in 2006 by singer Gary Hankins and singer/guitarist Aaron Swanton, both from Scarlet Symphony. The band's first public show was March 21, 2006, at the Casbah.
Bassist Kevin Lau (who also played with Plastic Explosive) died in late March, 2012, while on vacation in New York.
