Turkey Mallet was a 1990s reggae-rock band. Their album Chiaroscuro included popular local hits such as the Ocean-Beach centered "Surf Nazi Norman."
Guitarist Dustin Boyer later collaborated with Welsh musician John Cale, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Michelle Branch, Andrew Dorff, and Michael Landau, among others. Singer Matt Hoyt, who was also a member of Papillon, later became business partners with promoter/Casbah owner Tim Mays and musician Steve Poltz in the restaurant and bar Starlite, as well shooting music videos for bands such as Pinback, The Black Heart Procession, and Goblin Cock. He passed away in August 2021.
