The Tifereth Israel Community Orchestra of San Diego is headed by music director David Amos, who has conducted the London Symphony and Israel Philharmonic. They meet once weekly near Cowles Mountain, at the Tifereth Israel Synagogue social hall. With a $15,000 annual budget, the Orchestra averages around 70 members, who hold public performances around six times per year.
When conductor David Amos founded the orchestra in 1974, it was known as the Jewish Community Center Symphony Orchestra.
