The Europeans were a mid 1960s band founded in La Mesa by students at St. Augustine High School. Fronted by singer Janie Bishop, they frequently turned up on weekends playing the Kona Kai Club. They later replaced Bishop with John Sardella and evolved into a slightly psychedelic pop-rock band, releasing at least two singles, including 1967's "Climate" (b/w a cover of the novelty track "Mr. Custer"). Cashbox magazine said of the latter "The Search could find success with this potent discotheque-styled hard rock foot stomper, rousing effort by the group." Members included Jim Mannino and Paul Mannino.
