Not much is known about the 1980s-era Encinitas band The Drive-Ins, other than they were originally manned by musicians named Louie (seen in stripes), drummer Jay (glasses), Ben, and Ray. Their publicity photo was shot at the Oceanside Drive-In. Steve Broach from Hair Theater became their drummer, bringing his wife Jody in as the singer. Other latterday singers included Randy Chaplin, who earned local fame for robbing a bank.
Their 1984 single "Movie Girls" features Mike Battista on sax.
