A 2015 GigTown Music local break contest winner, Brian McClure, aka Generik (aka Jon'aire of the band Terrans) is a hip-hop performer.
Generik collaborated with rapper Jesse Cannon, aka Tall Can, for the psychedelic hip-hop duo Tall Can and Generik. Their full-length Fungi.Psyche.Boots was released in early 2016.
The 18-song album features lyrics by Tall Can and beats by Generik. "I wrote the majority of these songs in 2014 through 2015," says Tall Can. "A lot of weird shit happened and, instead of bottling it up, I wrote about it on my skin with melted Crayolas, then rapped it into a microphone, recognizing that the human mind never stops growing and expanding."
As for the album's Syd Barrett-like psychedelic jazz tendencies, "I dwell in the caverns on the psychonautics blueprint laid out before me," says Tall Can. "These states of psychedelic wonder and trippy-being can be reached without a chemically induced lunch, but I suggest everybody dose themselves a few times before they hit the gravesite. Fungus is good for you."
In 2017, Tall Can dropped a split release with Seven Legged Octopus.
