San Diego/Temecula band Strike Twelve plays MOR punk. Their album Last Band Standing was released in summer 2023 via Thousand Islands Records, preceded by a single for "Smart Phones, Stupid People."
The video for that single was shot entirely on the band's phones. According to bassist-singer Joey T, "I got the inspiration for this song while sitting on the couch with several other people in the room, all of us separately staring in silence at our respective phones. 'Smart Phones, Stupid People' takes a look at the challenges we face with our ever-growing dependence on technology and reminds us that there is a real world with real people right in front of us. And, of course, we shot the whole video on our smart phones."
A third single and video was released for the track "Baseball Bat." According to guitarist/vocalist Matty T, "'Baseball Bat' involves a violent physical release caused by prolonged emotional suppression. Sometimes I just can’t bite my tongue any longer and before I open my big mouth it’s better to physically exert myself." A video was also produced for the track "Not A Phase," featuring a compilation of archived videos, photos, and flyers from their 20+ years as a band.
