Skid Roper & the Whirlin’ Spurs were a 1980s roots rock act featuring frequent Mojo Nixon collaborator Skid Roper, along with Lance Soliday, Dan Vazquez, and Jayne Robson. An album called Trails Plowed Under was released in 1989, featuring a cover of the Rolling Stones' “Paint it Black,” shortly before the Mojo/Skid full-length Root Hog or Die came out.
