Shark Attack is a DJ/production duo, consisting of Patrick Heaney (aka Archibeates) and Mike Delgado. Growing up together in Coronado, Heaney began learning drums when he was 5 years-old, later moving on to guitar, bass, violin, cello, and harmonium. Delgado concentrated on playing guitar and bass, and both young men discovered they had a knack for mixing and matching old album tracks, ala DJ mixers.
Working with friends in the Album Leaf, the duo put together a DJ scratch set in Winter 2005, making their debut at the San Diego Sports club that November. They soon took over that venue's Fuck It Fridays DJ night. They moved on to performing at the Beauty Bar, the House of Blues, and elsewhere. They won Best Club DJ at the 2008 San Diego Music Awards.
By 2009, Shark Attack were performing original electromusic sets and recording their album Shooting Judas at Secret Cedar Recording Studios, a Santee facility owned by Heaney.
In early 2009, the group became a trio with the addition of Aaron Blomberg.
Having apparently played their final show on March 28, 2011, members have spun off several new combos, including Farrows, Bats, and Tiny Telephones.
