Singer/actress Sara Ramirez was born in Mexico, though she moved to to Tierrasanta in San Diego when she was eight years old, after her parents divorced.
In June 2005, the 29 year-old San Diego School of Creative and Performing Arts grad won a Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Musical, for her role as the Lady of the Lake in the Monty Python-inspired Broadway musical Spamalot.
Ramirez achieved national fame after joining the cast of the TV show Grey’s Anatomy. She sang her song “The Story” by Phil Hanseroth, on the TV show’s March 31, 2011 musical episode.
