Founded in the early 1980s, RV & The Hubcaps featured Point Loma's Robert Vaughn, who later fronted New Presidents and Gloryhouse. They specialized in original music. By the time he became an Island Records recording artist with Robert Vaughn & the Shadows, he had shifted into more of a folk rock-Americana sound.
RV & The Hubcaps released one EP. Singles like "The Girl Next Door" and "Trickster" are popular with fans of obscure indie pop.
