"I started performing music in public during my high school years and had a successful band in Cleveland, Ohio back in the 1970's called Buckeye Biscuit," says Ron Franklin. "We're mentioned in the book Rock and Roll and the Cleveland Connection."
Franklin earned a Master of Music degree in Guitar Performance from Texas Tech University and has taught music for the San Diego College of Continuing Education and the San Diego Community College District. "I taught music and recording at several colleges including Midland College, Texas Tech University, The University of Akron, The Art Institute of California San Diego, and the University of Southern California."
Franklin is a classical guitarist who also plays a light classical and jazz repertoire. "I spent a number of years working as an executive in the pro audio/video business, working for companies such as Avid Technology, AKAI, WaveFrame and Sonic Solutions, traveling to studios and audio/video conventions around the world.
In 2013, Franklin won an Emmy award as a producer for The Good Food Factory TV show. "I composed songs for each episode and performed on the show which airs on COX Cable in San Diego and several other markets. I continue to work as a video producer and voice-over artist."
Early 2022 found Franklin reporting on a new project. "I just released a new album of original music for solo guitar called Mysterious Deep. One piece, 'Surf Factory,' was written for a locally produced TV show that aired on COX Cable Channel 4 here in San Diego called The Good Food Factory. It's a healthy cooking show for kids and the surf piece I wrote was in the episode that won a regional Emmy award for me and three of my friends who helped produce the show. Several other pieces including the title piece 'Mysterious Deep' were written for a locally produced DVD for Next Generation Yoga that is now distributed by Gaiam."
