UCSD composer Roger Reynolds earned bachelor’s degrees in engineering physics and music, and a master’s degree in music, at the University of Michigan. He joined the UCSD faculty in 1969.
His recordings include Whispers Out of Time, which won a Pulitzer Prize in 1989. He has written several books, including Mind Models and Form and Method, as well as publishing numerous journal articles. The Roger Reynolds Special Collection was established at the Library of Congress in 1998.
At 76 years old in summer 2011, he released his Sanctuary DVD. Reynolds lives in Del Mar with his flutist wife, Karen Reynolds.
