Woodwind player Peter Kuhn born in the San Fernando Valley and raised in L.A., though his career flourished in the Bay Area. He departed for New York at the invitation of Anthony Braxton in the mid-’70s, where he played with violinist Billy Bang, trumpeter Lester Bowie, and bassist William Parker.
After returning to California in the 1980s, he endured a string of personal problems that included a 15-month stretch in Chino State Prison. He eventually ended up in San Diego, where he has played and toured with ensembles such as Dependent Origination.
The 2016 release No Coming, No Going is a reissue of Livin’ Right paired with a vintage concert recording.
