Founded in the seventies by John Auzin, the People Movers have included dozens of members through the years. The longtime Mission Bay Cargo Bar house band has at various times featured Jason Scheff (later of Chicago), future Eric Clapton bassist Nathan East, guitarist Pat Kelley (George Benson, Natalie Cole) and drummer Art Rodriguez (Manhattan Transfer, Rickie Lee Jones).
A number of former members reunited in June 2016, for a performance at the Hilton Mission Bay, former home of the Cargo Bar.
