Bassist Mackenzie Leighton (Wrong Trousers, Nexus) founded the ML Trio with his Gone Fishing bandmate Matthew Smith on drums and Jarien Jamanilla on alto saxophone. This group is inspired by the lineage of sax, bass, and drums trios, a format that allows greater freedom for all three instruments.
