A native of Jalisco, México, Lupe Ríos was inspired by the mariachis, singing traditional Mexican songs at the local bullfights. After his family immigrated to the United States, he was influenced by American music and culture. A proud Roman Catholic, he immersed himself in the religious music that surrounded him at church. As a result, he expresses his love of God with a tenor voice and sound that combines contemporary, Latin, flamenco and traditional liturgical musical influences.
Ríos has served as choral director and worship leader at Mary, Star of the Sea Catholic Church in La Jolla, and at Mission San Luis Rey Parish, in Oceanside.
His debut CD Mis Momentos con Díos (2010) was followed by Songs of Advent and Christmas (2014) and Paradisum (2016).
