Born and raised in Oceanside, R&B/reggae singer Lea Love draws from her rich Hawaiian, Japanese, and Samoan heritage. She began writing songs at the age of 10, often drawing inspiration from many types of musical genres. She describes her sound as “Island Soultry” — with that spelling. “I grew up listening to a lot of R&B music, and being Polyneisan, I was exposed to island reggae at a very young age. Which definitely has an influence on my sound today.”
Love released her Way I Am EP in June 2019 via Mensch House Records, along with a single and video for the title track. Other singles included “Doctor," “No Feels,” and “Set The Mood” featuring Jemere Morgan.
