Laurel Amtower was an instructor at San Diego State University. A classically trained concert pianist, she minored in English at UC Irvine, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in music in 1987.
After earning her postgraduate degrees in English from the University of Washington, she became an instructor at Cal State San Marcos before joining the SDSU faculty in 1997.
The beloved SDSU teacher died of brain cancer August 29, 2010, at San Diego Hospice. She was 44.
