Kitty Plague was founded in April 2011, when John Falk and Mark Haemmerle (Starcrossed) met Stephen Case at the Skybox open mic night in Clairemont. The band, named for a large litter of kittens once born in Haemmerle’s back yard, made its live debut on October 28 of that year, at JT’s Pub and Grill.
After a period of inactivity, the band returned to live gigging in November 2014. Their 2015 album L’appel Duvide was recorded in the midst of a lineup change, with some tracks recorded by new bassist Jeremy Copp and new drummer Jeff Forrest.
