Singer Juan Carlos Acosta is a native San Diegan who sang in the St. Paul’s Cathedral Boys Choir in downtown San Diego. After entering the music education program at SDSU, he began working as a section leader in his church choir while still attending SDSU in 2000. He graduated with a master's degree in conducting.
He has logged several years in the chorus of the San Diego Opera, beginning in 2003, as well as San Diego Master Chorale and the La Jolla Symphony Chorus. At the same time, he was also teaching piano around town and spent ten years at First United Methodist Church in Chula Vista. He also became a choir director at the Chula Vista School of Creative and Performing Arts and was an adjunct professor at Cuyamuca College.
As of April 2015, he was serving as Director of Music Ministries at Village Church in Rancho Santa Fe, leading the Chancel Choir, the Community Chorale, and the Youth Choir. He has also been Associate Artistic Director for San Diego choral ensemble SACRA/PROFANA.
