Josquin Des Pres is a producer, songwriter, and composer for dozens of artists and TV shows. He was a founding member of Stress, which for a time included Rough Cutt's Jimmy Crespo, who'd been Aerosmith's temporary guitarist while Joe Perry was estranged from that band.
Since 1990, Des Pres has co-written and produced numerous songs with Bernie Taupin, Disney Star Laura Marano, American Idol finalists Jax, Rayvon Owen, and Makayla Phillips, as well as producing projects with Jason Mraz and French Pop Star Joyce Jonathan. He also wrote songs and played bass for Jacqueline Grace, whose 2008 song “Dance Under the Moonlight” won Best Dance Single at the LA Music Awards.
As of late 2021, Des Pres was President at the Utonium Music label, which includes artists such as Makayla Phillips, a 2020 American Idol Top 10 contestant and 2021 American Idol “Comeback” performer. He's also CEO of Track Star Entertainment, and Co-CEO of JoNa Music Group.
"During the lockdown, I started producing a project for French singer Joyce Jonathan," he told the Reader. "We started with a few recording sessions on Zoom, [and] the song went through a variety of stages. The JoNa Music Group writing team joined in [Jason Mraz, Michael & Nancy Natter, Chaska Potter, Tolan Shaw, Fabien Renoult]. Joyce wrote some beautiful French lyrics and, last week, 18 months later, Joyce flew to California and we wrapped up this beautiful song and video in just a few days. Worldwide release date for this 'Frenglish' bilingual gem is November 26th." The project was produced by Jason Mraz, Josquin Des Pres, Michael Natter, Yann Macé, and Luc Leroy, and mastered by Barry Rudolph.
