Conductor Jeff Edmons has spent over a dozen seasons as the artistic director for the San Diego Youth Symphony. He got his first violin at the age of six, a gift from his musician grandfather Elmo Edmons.
The Youth Symphony includes around 470 students, who rehease weekly in 13 different band coinfigurations. The Symphony is based at Balboa Park, in the Casa del Prado. While with the Youth Symphony, Edmons helped launch the International Youth Symphony, an annual summer project run in a partnership with Rotary International's Youth Exchange, pairing local instrumentalists with musicians from Italy, France, Israel, Spain, Turkey, and elsewhere.
He's also participated in programs with the La Jolla Music Society and the San Diego Symphony, as well as instituting a percussion program at Oak Park Elementary School.
