Based in Kensington and Mission Hills, funk-soul-alt-rock band Innocent Bystanders was named after a line in Warren Zevon's "Lawyers, Guns & Money," one of the first songs they learned. The group was founded in 2012 by musicians who played regularly in various bands in high school and college, who got together to form a band to play fundraising events for a local law school.
They perform a wide-range of rock and soul, focused on the music of the 1960s and 1970s. Their four song Attractive Nuisance EP of original music was recorded at Singing Serpent Studios in Kensington and released in November 2017.
Guitarist Chris Saunders, who was also a journalist, passed away in September 2017.
