Honey Glaze emerged in 1990, at a time when San Diego's music scene began reaching an all-time pinnacle for new talent, creativity, and above all, unity. Hailed as “the next Seattle,” the San Diego scene didn’t want to hear it, and rightfully so.
“This time of creation was much bigger than any of us could have ever known,” says the band on its MySpace page. “Sold-out nightclubs all across town, radio airplay for many local artists, and a sense of knowing that we could all do whatever we wanted, as long as we worked together. AND WE DID. We respected one another (for the most part), and created a scene that still ranks as one of the best movements San Diego has ever seen. The music was the catalyst for a generation of artists, musicians, and music lovers who came together and had a blast.”
Honey Glaze reunited in January 2009, as part of the Casbah’s 20th anniversary celebration. At the time, guitarist Mike Abdelnour told the Reader, “We are looking to record a new album later this year.”
