DJ Hm.t Dm.t, aka James Huntington (Sludge Butt), championed the San Diego experimental music scene long before the weekly events he promoted like Liquid Geometry became staples at San Diego venues like the Kava Lounge.
The Liquid Geometry arts and music collective held their second free outdoor gathering, Haloa, in the Imperial Valley desert in November 2010.
Huntington named the collective after a Goethe quote, “Geometry is frozen music.” “I spend pretty much my whole summer out in the desert,” says Huntington, who attends outdoor gatherings put on by similar art and music collectives regularly.
Liquid Geometry showcases live artists and psychedelic, experimental, and beat scene musicians such as Demon Slayer, Griefshare, eLAN, Teebs, Lorn, Dr. Strangeloop, Osal8, and Samiyam.
In late 2011, the Hm.t Dm.t song “Breakfast Hash” appeared on an electro compilation released by Dataset Clothing. However, the Liquid Geometry co-founder passed away on February 8, 2012.
