Based in North Park, the Gorgeous Boyscouts is a three-piece rock band originally featuring Nick Schwarz (vocals, guitar) from New York, Brandon Albu (aka McCoolin, drums) from Minnesota, and, for a few early shows, Ronnie Tye (bass, guitar) from Texas. Their debut EP We Blow was released in October 2016, sporting cover artwork created by Brandon's 10 year old cousin, Harley Albu, and new bassist Michael Lomangino.
Their January 2018 full-length A Tenderfoot's Duty: The Call of the Void featured another cover by cousin Harley. "All of our album titles are puns related to Boyscout rankings," says Nick Schwarz. "The Call of the Void is the English translation of the French saying L'appel du Vide. It describes the feeling some of us get when we are driving cars or standing on high ledges. It's about the realization and celebration of how fragile life really is. A lot of the lyrics in this album come from this feeling. But, we didn't think that was very funny, so we also turned it into a poop joke."
