Ryan Gonzalez, aka Gonzo, blends a wide variety of musical influences and love-inspired messages to create a sound he refers to as roots-reggae-soul. As a young musician, he linked up with some high school friends to form his first band, now widely known as Fortunate Youth, whose debut album Irie State of Mind was released in July 2011, with Gonzo as the lead guitarist and one of two lead vocalists. After two national tours in support of the album, he parted ways with FY.
Gonzo's debut solo album Rocksteady was released in December 2012, promoted with a tour where he was backed onstage by Beyond I Sight. It reached #1 on the iTunes Reggae Chart.
As a member of Tribal Seeds since 2013, Gonzo’s vocal and songwriting skills are featured on the band's songs like “Fill It Up”, “Undercover Lover,” and “Rock The Night.” He has collaborated and written songs with E.N. Young, Leilani Wolfgramm, Tomorrows Bad Seeds, Sono Vero, and more.
His 2014 solo album Red, released on E.N. Young's Roots Musician Records label, features guest performances from E.N Young of Tribal Seeds, Pedro of True Press, Koa of Inna Vision, and Beyond I Sight. It debuted at #1 on the iTunes Reggae Chart and hit #6 on the Billboard reggae charts.
