Glean features guitarist Dorian Boucher alongside his bassist father Muggs, guitarist-vocalist Andris Barkley, and drummer Brady Schiller. They released their debut 5-song Demo 2020, recorded and mixed by Erick at Dogwhistle Records, via Chicago label New Morality Zine in January 2020. Their track “Lawn” was singled out on Stereogum, which described them as "a tender hardcore band from San Diego with a large, chunky, melodic sound."
In 2021, they released a three-song EP, Things We Must Embrace, recorded with Max Epstein and Stefan Mac. Before and after the pandemic shutdown, they could frequently be found playing UCSD's the Ché Cafe.
