Folk Uke is a comedic acoustic duo featuring Willie Nelson's daughter Amy Nelson and Arlo Guthrie's daughter Cathy Guthrie. The two met in the late 1990s, when both worked at Croce's downtown restaurant and bar run by Ingrid Croce, the widow of singer-songwriter Jim Croce.
Hitting it off, Nelson took Guthrie to buy her first ukulele, and soon they were writing songs together and appearing at outdoor concerts such as Woody Fest, the annual Oklahoma gathering that celebrates the legacy of Guthrie's grandfather.
Since recording their self-titled debut album in 2005, they've gone on to release followups in 2011 (Reincarnation) and Starfucker (2016). They had a song featured on the soundtrack to Orange is the New Black, "Motherfucker Got Fucked Up," which hit number one on Spotify, as well as in films such as Indie Jonesing, Social Animals, and Super Troopers 2. They've opened shows for a variety of artists such as X, The Jayhawks, Tommy Stinson, Kinky Friedman, Shooter Jennings, and Wye Oak.
Late 2020 saw them dropping two new tracks, "Don't Bite Beyoncé" and an anti-Trump song called "Small One" which they said was named after the unpopular President's diminutive penis.
