Punk band Fenix TX was originally based in Texas and known as Riverfenix. Their debut 1997 album Drive Thru resulted in Mark Hoppus managing the band while still playing with blink-182. Both groups toured together until Fenix TX split in 2002, though a few brief reunions ensued.
After blink-182 announced its reformation in 2009, the classic Fenix TX lineup reunited as well, with plans to record a new album.
Latterday singer-bassist Aaron Thompson went on to create porn soundtracks in videos for Burning Angel, a video production company co-owned by his wife, porn star Joanna Angel, as well as performing his own porn scenes under the stage name Small Hands.
One of the original members, Adam Lewis, passed away from cancer in 2024, prompting the band to prepare previously unreleased material to release in memory of Lewis and for the benefit of his family.
As of 2025, two of the members were still living in San Diego county. A new song and video was released that January for the track, "Engines."
