Founded in 2019 and led by guitarist/vocalist/songwriter/producer Parker Griggs (Radio Moscow), El Perro is a psychedelic rock band with a second guitar and percussionist pushing the music into more of a syncopated Latin and funk groove. Members have included former Radio Moscow drummer Lonnie Blanton and bassist Shawn Davis, of Ramona-based Dead Serial Killers. Other players have included guitarist Holland Redd, who also plays with Riley Hawk, son of skateboard star Tony Hawk, in the band Petyr, and he sang and played guitar and keyboards in Salt Lake City's UFO TV. The band has also featured guitarist Jaron Yancey and percussionist Tawny Harrington.
They released their debut single "Black Days" in August 2021, in advance of their debut album due early the following year, Hair Of El Perro. It was followed by a single for "Breaking Free" and a U.S. tour alongside Dirty Streets. A single for "Take Me Away" debuted in May 2022. Their summer 2022 European tour kicked off August 10 in Portugal and wrapped September 3 in Germany.
With founder Parker Griggs now backed by ex-Blues Pills guitarist Dorian Sorriaux, ex-Prisma Circus bassist Joaquin Escudero, and drummer Jeremy Davy, a European tour was staged from late May 2023 through June 2023. Another European jaunt ran from mid-February through mid-March, 2024.
