Dying Species was founded in La Mesa circa 2021 by players from bands such as Jon Cougar Concentration Camp, The Wasteaways, Inciting Riots, Front Wiper, Beer Goggles, Dodgeball, and Everready.
In 2024, the band released their album Extinct, recorded at San Diego’s Doubletime Studio with local producer Jeff Forrest.
