Drummer Chuck McPherson is the son of local jazz legend Charles McPherson. In the '80s, he played with New York's West Street Mob, a rap group with connections to the original Sugar Hill Gang, whose song "Rapper's Delight" is considered one of the first mainstream hip-hop releases.
As of 2009, McPherson fronts the Cold Sweat Sextet, a James Brown tribute band.
