Raised in Florida, Charlie Arbelaez spent his four years at MCRD in San Diego playing duty saxophone in government bands and orchestras. After becoming a civilian again in 2014 at the age of 27, he increased his local presence by showing up around town with various jazz ensembles, as well as hosting a weekly jazz jam at the Rook Bar.
“I’m bound to end up in New York at some point,” he says. “It’s where you learn.”
