The Cecilia String Quartet is the resident ensemble at San Diego State University’s School of Music and Dance. Named after the patron saint of music, the Quartet won second place in Japan’s Osaka International Chamber Music Competition in summer 2008. The prize was 1.5 million yen (around $14,000 U.S.).
Members include Sarah Nematallah and Min-Jeong Koh (violin), Caitlin Boyle (viola), and Rebecca Wenham (cello).
In 2008, composer Liam James Wade wrote a quartet for the ensemble, "String Quartet no. 2," often referred to as "The Canadian."
