Cañamo plays traditional reggae, island vibes, improvisation, and a touch of ska. Its ever-evolving lineup revolves around Osvaldo (lead guitarist/singer), Elias (bass), and Lalo (accordion), backed by various brass and rhythm sections that come and go. Osvaldo moved to Tijuana from Oaxaca when he was 20, meeting Elias in college and co-founding Cañamo in 2003. After recording two demo CDs, they self-released an EP in 2011.
Now one of the most recognized reggae band in Tijuana, they have opened for international acts such as Café Tacvba, Don McCarlos, Los Cafres, and Cultura Profetica.
