Buck Wayne was originally from Texas before relocating to San Diego and playing with Smokey Rogers' Western Caravan. He took a job with XERB, Rosarito Beach Mexico, beginning around 1957. He went on to play country platters at XEAU in Tijuana Mexico and then worked at KSON until 1975, when throat cancer forced him into retirement.
Aside from fronting his own group The Buckshots, his songs have been recorded by Hank Snow, Tommy Duncan, Floyd Tillman, and more. He was best known for influential singles such as "Buckshot." In 1991, he was inducted into the Western Swing hall of Fame. 1996 saw his induction into the Pioneers of Western Swing Hall of Fame. The Country Music D J Hall of Fame honored him in 2002.
