Black Resume is a hip-hop quartet featuring brothers Terence Perkins and Tavares Perkins, as well as Ken Pride, Chris Tyler (aka LC), and Guilla (aka Guillotine), all former students at Mount Carmel and Rancho Bernardo high schools.
They released their debut album Bar-Barian Music in 2010, after which the band was nominated for a San Diego Music Award for Best Hip Hop Artist and Best Hip Hop Album.
In Autumn 2010, the group won the Local Music Alliance Special Hip-Hop Edition Volume 5 competition, for their song “Animals.”
In 2011, Guillotine’s solo song “Everything Is Everything,” off his album Trying to Get Ahead and featuring most of Black Resume, was released as a video. Early 2012 found the band promoting and playing frequent multi-band bills at Porter’s Pub on the UCSD campus.
Black Resume’s sophomore full length, Friends in High Places, was released in April 2012.
