Jazz singer Betty Bennett first came to notice with Claude Thornhill's band in 1946, alongside her husband, bassist Iggy Shevak. Both later joined Alvino Rey's band, with Betty going off with Charlie Ventura's band in 1949 and then joining Benny Goodman in 1959.
Her second husband, André Previn collaborated with Shorty Rogers on the arrangement for Betty's second album. She later married guitarist Mundell Lowe, and her daughter Alicia Previn is also a musician. She passed away in early 2020.
