Beer Money was founded by Joe Stevens and his wife Jen. Stevens is also the founder of the local San Diego music TV program Local SoCal, which debuted in January 2012.
“The show is made by local musicians, for local musicians,” says Stevens. “Each 30-minute episode is dedicated to one artist or band. The first ten minutes, I interview the artist, and then the band goes up and gives a 20-minute live performance.” Early episodes included hard rockers King Legend, rapper Destructo Bunny, 16-year-old singer/songwriter Shyla Day, Kitty Plague, and Happy Ron Hill.
“Me and my wife Jen are now officially separated,” singer/guitarist Joe Stevens announced in early 2012. “Thankfully on agreeable terms. We will still perform as Beer Money, just not a husband and wife.”
