Founded in Santa Ana circa 1991 and known as the godfathers of sludge, -(16)- is fronted by guitarist and lead vocalist Bobby Ferry (Maxmillion, Halo Epidemic), who relocated to San Diego in the early 2000s. They've recorded at local businesses such as Double Time Studios. Two members from San Diego band Schmaltz, Dion Thurman (Creedle, fluf, Daddy Long Leggs) and Barney Firks (WormDrive, Burning Hands, Shot Out Hoods, Taz Taylor Band, Nice World) joined -(16)- in 2013.
They released their eighth studio album Dream Squasher in June 2020, preceded by a single for "Me And The Dog Die Together" and a video for "Sadlands." The lineup included Alexander Shuster (Grim Imperials) on lead guitar.
